What is Smart Retries in WhatsApp Campaigns, and how does it work in ZEPIC?

While WhatsApp campaigns offer high engagement, messages can fail to deliver due to Meta's Throtting Policy. Meta does this throttling to make sure the end users don't get a lot of marketing messages in a day.

messagesSmart Retries is an essential feature designed to automatically overcome these delivery failures on WhatsApp due to Meta's throttling of message.

This increases your final message delivery rate, making sure your important campaign messages (like flash sale alerts or time-sensitive notifications) reach the largest possible audience.

Here’s how to use them in ZEPIC...

How Smart Retries works in ZEPIC

The system is triggered only when a message fails due to the throttling error code from the WhatsApp API. Here is the automated sequence:

Step 1: Automated retry sequence

  • When sending your campaign or broadcast message and reviewing the same, there will be an option to turn on ’smart retries.’
  • The system uses a calculated, increasing delay (e.g., wait 30 minutes, then 1 hour, then 2 hours) between attempts to maximize the chance that the customer's device is back online.
  • ZEPIC respects the 24-hour Template Message window. However, you can also customize the smart retries frequency and time duration as well, as shown below. This will be live once you launch your campaign

Step 2: Success or final failure

  • Success: If the message is delivered on any retry attempt, the final status is updated to "Delivered."
  • Final Failure: If all retry attempts fail (e.g., the customer's number is permanently unreachable or the window expires), the message status is updated to a final "Failed" status.

Why use Smart Retries in WhatsApp Campaigns

Smart Retries solves key operational pain points associated with large-scale messaging campaigns:

  • Preventing lost messages: Addresses temporary failures (like device offline status) which would otherwise result in a permanent "Failed" status, preserving your message reach.

  • Zero agent effort: The entire failure detection and retry sequence is handled automatically by ZEPIC, saving your team countless hours of manual monitoring and resending.
