How to verify your domain in GoDaddy

Sending campaigns and automated emails using your own verified domain is one of the best steps you can take to boost email deliverability. By verifying your domain with ZEPIC, you’re showing Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and mailbox providers that you’re a legitimate sender—improving your sender reputation and enhancing brand recognition.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to add your domain (or subdomain) to ZEPIC, generate SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records, and then correctly add them to GoDaddy’s DNS settings.

Adding a Custom Domain in ZEPIC

1. Go to Email Domain Settings

   - In your ZEPIC, click Settings → Email Domains.

2. Add Domain

   - Click + Add Domain, then enter the exact domain (or subdomain) you want to use.

   - Example: `@mybrand.com` for your main domain or `@news.mybrand.com` for a subdomain.

   - You can also add the sender name and email address for this domain. Any campaign sent from this domain will have this sender's name and email address filled in by default.

3. Generate DNS Records

    - After entering all the details, click on the Continue button. ZEPIC will provide SPF, DKIM, and DMARC TXT records you need to add to GoDaddy’s DNS.

Adding Records to GoDaddy DNS

After adding your domain in ZEPIC, you’ll see a list of TXT records. Follow these steps to add them to GoDaddy:

1. Log In to GoDaddy

   - Head over to https://www.godaddy.com and sign in to your account.

2. Access DNS Settings

   - Under My Products, select the domain you want to verify.

   - Click Manage DNS to view the DNS Records.

3. Add the CNAME Record

   - Look for the option to add a new CNAME record.

   - Name (Host): Often `@` or the subdomain (e.g., `news`) if you’re setting up a subdomain.

   - Value (TXT Value): Paste the SPF record provided by ZEPIC (e.g., `v=spf1 include:_spf.zepic.com ~all`).

   - TTL: You can leave this as the default or set it to the recommended value from GoDaddy.

Make sure that you create a separate record for all the entries available in ZEPIC by clicking on "Add More Records" in GoDaddy.

4. Save Your Changes

   - After creating these records, click Save.

   - Note: DNS changes sometimes can take up to 24 hours (occasionally 48) to propagate.

Verifying Your Domain in ZEPIC

1. Click “Verify Records”

   - Return to Settings → Email Domains in ZEPIC.

   - Select the domain you just updated and click Verify.

2. Wait for Confirmation

   - You’ll see a message indicating that verification is in progress.

3. Assign Your Domain

   - Once verified, assign this domain or subdomain to your Campaigns by selecting it from the dropdown menu in ZEPIC’s settings.

FAQ

1. How will my recipients see my emails after verifying the domain in ZEPIC?

They’ll see your custom domain (e.g., `@mybrand.com`) in the sender details, rather than a shared ZEPIC address. This can build trust and improve open rates.

2. I just added a new domain—why is my deliverability not improved yet?

It can take time (and proper warm-up) for your domain reputation to build. Gradually increase sending volume to avoid deliverability issues.

3. Do I really need all three (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)?

Yes. Starting December 12, 2023, ZEPIC requires all three to be verified for new domains. It’s an industry best practice and helps ensure better protection against spoofing and phishing.

4. What if one of the records fails verification?

Check your DNS settings in GoDaddy to make sure they match exactly. If needed, reach out to GoDaddy support or consult with the ZEPIC support team for personalized guidance.

5. Can I use multiple domains or subdomains?

Absolutely! You might use your main domain for marketing campaigns and a subdomain (like `support.mybrand.com`) for transactional emails.

Wrapping Up

Domain verification in ZEPIC through GoDaddy ensures that your emails are properly authenticated and helps boost trust and deliverability. Follow the steps above, and remember to wait for the DNS changes to propagate before verifying in ZEPIC. If you run into any problems, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Support team.
